5/15/17

With preschool finishing on May 19th, the chapel conversion to restrooms was able to begin on May 22nd along with the new preschool area underneath the sanctuary. As part of that process, the preschool room directly below the chapel is now closed as well. New handicapped parking and valet parking areas have been poured on the east side and we should hopefully be able to utilize those soon. The brick will start going up early June and the steel for the west side of our church has arrived. The foundations and concrete walls are already in place to receive the steel, so we will be able to see the beginning of the new building areas soon. 
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and patience thus far with all of the disruptions and ask you to remain in prayer for the duration of the project. We know it will all be worth it in the end.

We are on our way! Our groundbreaking service last Sunday evening was a joyous and momentous milestone in the life of First United Methodist Church. Over 250 people had a chance to “break the ground,” signifying the start of construction. The “Last Supper” in Fellowship Hall spilled over into the hallways, parlor, office and classrooms. First Church is alive and poised to be an even stronger presence for Christ in our community, and we can all take pride in this journey of faith.
Many have responded with their financial support, too. As of 2/26/17, $906,280 has been pledged toward the $1 million goal. Thank you!
We still have a way to go, so if you have not yet indicated your financial support, would you prayerfully consider how you can help our church reach into the community and the world with an expanded ministry facility? Pledge cards are available at the Welcome Center.

1/22/17

We have secured all the approvals required from the city and county. The last of those was received on January 10th. We expect to have the state approvals in the next 3 weeks for the buildings. We can however start the water supply and drain modifications before receiving the state approvals on the building.
On February 15th we plan to move the furniture in the Fellowship Hall to a storage pod which will be located next to the garage. We will need volunteers to help with this process. A sign up sheet is in the Gathering Area.

 

 

12/19/16

We will be issuing updates on the status of the church remodel project. We plan to make these a monthly event.
Meetings to secure the necessary zoning and building permits are scheduled for December 27th and January 10th. Once we receive permission at both of these meetings  We will be ready to start construction. You should see construction equipment on site by February 1st. Hopefully before.
We have pretty well locked in the building blue prints. We have signed construction contracts with JICI. 
Several people have asked when we will start making payments to the contractor. The first payment will be due January 17th. It is to cover the cost to develop the blueprints to allow construction to start. Monthly payments will be made from that date forward based on the amount of construction completed.
We ask for your patience as this project unfolds. There will be some inconveniences along the way. Every effort is being made to minimize these issues.
