Who We Are

About Us

The School of Early Learning is an outreach ministry of the First United Methodist Church that serves nearly 120 2-5 year old preschoolers. Our mission is to instill in the children a love of God and the foundations of learning. We intend to accomplish this by introducing and developing in children the skills necessary to become a successful member of society through social development, creative endeavors, motor development and academic activities.

About Our class rooms

Our preschool is made up of 7 classrooms of 2-5 year olds that use a developmentally appropriate  curriculum that follows the Indiana Early Learning Framework.  Each classroom teacher works hard to meet the individual needs of their students while pushing them to grow in all areas.  Each student will also participate in fitness, music and art taught by our Teacher of the Arts.  We also have a full library and indoor and outdoor play areas to promote both a love of reading and build gross motor skills.

Our activities and programs

In addition to our classroom curriculum, we also offer several additional activities for the children as well.  School pictures, field trips, guest speakers, and weekly chapel time with our pastors are all an important part of our program.  Early Learner students have a Spring Program that coincides with our school wide Art Show.  Pre-K and Early Pre-K students participate in a Christmas Program and all students who are attending kindergarten the following school year will end the year with a Cap and Gown Graduation Ceremony.
