The Mystery & Power of Prayer

The Mystery & Power of Prayer

Dear Friends,

Prayer is one of the keys to being fully alive, I believe.

Scripture shows us that prayer was something Jesus did often even though (John 1 and Philippians 2) we're told the Carpenter was God in the flesh. If Jesus slipped away to pray, then surely there must be something to this as key to life.

Author Anne Lamott says the three essential prayers are Help, Thanks and Wow (prayers of petition, prayers of thanksgiving, and prayers of praise).

Pastor Adam Hamilton of Church of the Resurrection (UMC) in Kansas City says prayer comes down to two basic phrases: "Thank you" and "I love you."

Please take some time to watch the video below that we recorded this week on the basics of prayer. It may be helpful to you or someone you know who is puzzled by prayer and how to get started in living a soul-full life. Join us for a few minutes of conversation about the mystery and power of prayer.

IN-PERSON WORSHIP begins again on Sunday, March 21, with two identical services at 8:30 and 11. Nursery care will be available but there will be (as we get started) no children's or youth Sunday school classes.
